....What would you use? The mirror is 5' x 3' with heavy gilt frame - I'm going to hang it from Spax frame fixings into a conventional brick/plaster wall, the frame has got hanging points on it but what to use - wire or chain?

Thanks

Probably chain would be the most foolproof.....wire is fine too so long as its tensile or fairly thick stuff - it can be doubled up if need be.
With wire, you have to ensure that it can't unravel itself, of course!

Hook directly onto the anchors using e.g. keyhole-shaped brackets screwed to the frame.

If you have kids in your home, make sure it can't fall forwards off whatever fittings you use.

When using a chain/wire, I normally glue a washer to the screw to pretty much increase the size of the screw head. Depending on the weight, I might be inclined to use coach screws rather than standard screws.
