Hard wiring Ring Camera

Hi,

I am planning to hard wire my Ring Spotlight Outdoor Camera using the official Ring power supply. My question is whether I can hardwire it into my ring main circuit by cutting off the 3 pin plug, as the transformer is powered by the figure 8 connector terminating into the 3pin plug. I would like to have this tucked under floorboards and carpeted, so I dont have to accommodate a plug and cable coming out from a floor board and into a wall socket.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A complicated set of questions involving both the "Ring" Trade Name and UK Ring Circuits.

is not allowed in the UK,
unless such connections are
of an approved type
and
in a "Maintenance Free" box.

Having the "power supply" "tucked under floorboards and carpeted" is quite another question!

Is rated at 2.5 amp, often we use a 3 amp fuse, but no larger. The old clock connector would have worked well, but these are now silly prices, so either plug and socket or a fused connection unit, not connected to a 32 amp ring final unless there is a fuse of some sort.

Thank you all, I realised that this at minimum would need an FCU and then the transformer under the boards .

I found another way to shorten the run so the thinner usb cable protrudes out from the floorboard but the cable is unbroken all the way to the outdoor camera.

You still must have access to any screwed connections and, of course, to the transformer itself. They can, and do fail.
You wont want to be digging up your carpeted floor to replace a faulty one!

Thank you. In my latest approach, I will have the transformer above the boards. The Ring power supply is a bit odd. It has a transformer that has a detachable 3 pin adapter which can then be attached to a longer figure 8 cable and 3 pin plug to extend the cable. In my latest approach I do away with the 3 pin and figure 8 extension and simply take the transformer with 3 pin and plug into the wall. This way the USB C cable from the transformer runs unbroken to the camera and no components underneath thr boards.
