While I don't disagree with this being a policing own goal, what other type of police are you going to use in an airport, apart from airport police?

The police are losing the confidence of the public I am a law abiding citizen and do my best to abide by the law. When the police get involved in things with their cocky attitudes and heavy handed tactics it all goes wrong. I have never had anything but admiration for them but the past few years I have had skirmish’s with them and been involved in drunken brawls where they have completely gone way over the top and got the wrong ending the stick which has resulted in me attending court when I really should not have been. No respect for them.

I am getting long in the tooth, and never had any issue with the Police.

Drunken brawls? Maybe look at yourself and your own conduct first before blaming the Police for stepping in ?

My bet is that it wouldn't be worth it, with all of the security checks and issues that would entail (getting street plod into and out of airports, every shift).

Plus, if the shoite really did kick off in an airport, we'd be knackered if the first rozzers there were pavement plod.

I don't know if the police actually want to be like this... I'd like to think that they are on our side but are constrained by the ultra strict rules they have to follow, and the fact that they have mortgages and families to pay for. Many retired policeman (ie those with nothing to lose) have spoken out against the two-tier system, I've never heard one who is for it.

I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same two tier justice system. Is this the one where ethnic minorities are given longer sentences than white people for the same crime. Or do you mean the one where poor people who can't afford good lawyers go to prison whilst rich people get off scott free.

Not sure about the first point but certainly the 2nd one is very true.
