Hardiebacker and rawlplugs?

Having discovered that removing wall tiles is indeed a nightmare, I am now wondering if I can screw hardiebacker board to the wall- say 70mm screws through the tile and into the wall behind- and tile that.
Any reason why that wouldn't work?

yes, you could do that, just like you can tile over tile but only if the tile is fixed to a solid background.
but remember that your pinchin maybe valuble space from a shower or bath surround.
