Hi I have a Harvey's h20 water softener, initially had a crack in one of the two tanks.
I ordered and replaced the tanks (ensuring to fit left to left, right to right).
When I refit, I couldnt do a manual regen.
Ended up replacing the shuttle valve and got the meter side valves/paddles too and replaced them.
Reset the gearing according to waterboy's stripdown and rebuild video on youtube.
Now the softener can be regenerated, but never picks up brine, resulting in continually using fresh water to kick off the process.
Only way I can stop it is to turn off the in and out, then de-pressureise the two outer pipes on the shuttle valve.
I've checked the pipes for the pickup, and ive confirmed the float on the pickup is free and loose...
Anything else I can check?
For ref I had Harvey's out- the diagnosed the cracked tank and wanted £1500 for a new softener so they are not an option.
