Buy a cheap one or an expensive one?
I can only go on the manufacturers claims because I know nothing:-
Ours is the best - uses less water - uses less salt - best flow rate. All claims, which I have to take in blind faith because I do not know.
Should I buy a fantastic cheap one or a fantastic expensive one?
Example of info out there:-
Salt dose is the primary variable in achieving brine efficiency. A typical capacity curve and efficiency curve for an ion exchange resin is shown below!!! And there are plenty of maths equations out there too.
Or telephone calls to manufacturers goes on the lines of - Ours is Best - Buy Ours. Or - We have the latest technology etc.
You can tell me anything and I will believe it because I know no better.
Reviews too are nothing to go by. Example: We bought a such-and-such water softener and now have lovely soft water.
What price to pay £300 or £3,000?
