Haunching drains

Dumb question...I am laying some channel drainage incorporated in my block paving, I know I have to bed them down and haunch them but what do I use for this?
If it is concrete what is the mix.....i.e sand and what??

Obviously cement, but can I use sharp sand instead of normal sand and gravel etc?

Use a fatty concrete mix I.e. add an extra dash of sharp sand and more cement to the concrete mix.
