Have you seen this?

Your absolutley right Joe, and it would be great if more people could use public transport. The problem is public transport is more expensive, takes longer in many circumstances and is ridiculously unreliable for the 21st century. Everytime there's a new charge or tax or whatever its always so they can "raise more funds to improve public transport". I honestly think no matter how much money they have things will never improve very much. By the time public transport is an advantage for the majority of people we'll all be flying around in hydrogen fuel cell flying back packs and won't need it.

Public transport just isn't good enough nor cheap enough. Example - a colleague of mine had a few days off last week and, having seen an offer advertising a day return from his local station to any location trains were running to for £10, he decided to have a day trip to York on the train. He got to the station and was told that York wasn't included in the £10 deal - he asked where he could go and was told he could go to Norwich (where he originates from so goes there quite often to visit family) or London. The next train to London wouldn't have arrived in the big smoke until 1:30pm so wouldn't have been much of 'day trip' He asked how much the day return to York was - £22 each (there were two of them) and it would take 90mins to get to York. He got back in his car and drove to York - it took 1hr from the train station to getting in to York city centre - 30mins less than it would have on the train - and it cost him just under £20 in fuel plus £2.40 each for the park and ride fare. So he saved 30minutes (each way) and £19.20 by using his car.

If it was cheaper, more reliable and had more frequent services, i would definately use public transport.
