Im looking for a HDD camcorder, only catch is, it needs to have an external mic connection, most don't until you get to high end models,

Ideally pay £5-800 less would be great, but up to £1000 at a stretch.

needs mic connection, and ability to manual control focus, white balance and aperture (the last 3 most are able to do anyway)

any suggestions???

Google for the specialist camcorder forums. You'll get better advice and there's a greater chance of finding someone with some experience of using the models that you'll be shortlisting.

cheers, that will be my next stop, I use this site a lot, and there generally seems to be a good mix of people, so thought id try it first

I've recently bought a Panasonic HDC SD200, no HDD or external mike input. Absolutly brilliant camera...but not having an external mike input is an issue. A sister model is the HDC HS300 which I believe has an 120gig HDD, SD card and a mini jack for an external mike...problem is its around your £800 maximum..
