I have a Samsung 1TB HDD as a storage backup on my PC. I just noticed it has disappeared from the computer. I have checked that no one has nipped in and nicked it. It's on and you can feel the disk is running. but still no joy

I removed it and put it in a caddy and tried it on my laptop. It installs the drivers for a mass storage device and yet it still remains invisible.

I also plugged it in to the USB on the PC it came from and the same happens

It has a lot of information I'd rather not lose so if anyone can assist I would be most grateful

Assuming windows:

Control Panel, Administration Menu - Disk Manager.

See if you can find it there. This looks at the raw disks.

If it's there but has no drive letter assigned to it, the file system may be damaged/corrupt/broken beyond repair.

Do NOT create a new filesystem/partition on this drive until you are absolutely sure you can't recover the data.
