That's reminded me of something nige.
If there's a viaduct carrying a canal over a valley and a boat goes across.
Does the weight of the boat get transferred to the viaduct supports, or does it get transferred to the water in the canal and dispersed over the canals length?
That's got nothing to do with dicks question, but I would like to know the answer.

The boat is going to displace water, but the water is one mass, so I'd say;
What ever the Skipper has on his Butties that day, if it's sardines or tuna well that's fish, so they'll swim acorss........Simples!!!
