Heat damaged granite hearth

I have a black granite hearth behind a flueless gas fire. It's about 10 years old and has "faded" to a light grey in parts as a result of the heat exposure.

Is there any tried and tested ways to restore granite like this? Maybe heat resistant paint or some kind of specialist cleaning agent?

Hi there,
I'm a stonemason. But I don't deal in granite.
When you say hearth do you mean Fire back? A hearth is traditionally laid on the floor under the fire.
(This is for imaginary purposes not to be a smart arse lol).
Granite from my experience is a tricky one once it has burnt.
I would start with a 'polished grant and marble' sealer. From Harbro masonry supplies.
Failing this (which I would think it will but is perhaps worth a shot?) I would polish is with some polishing pads for a polishing grinder. Move through the grades from a course to fine texture pad. Using it wet of course. this is expensive to buy for what you are doing though.
Sounds to me as though you would be as well buying some new granite or replacing it with something that won't burn. Granite will always burn. So will most stones, and brick. But I see it as part of the character personally.
