Is it possible to 'solder' a stainless steel heat exchanger, which has a pin hole leak [ under gravity pressure] or is there any other way of sealing this; while a replacement unit is sort?

why are you trying to repair a pin hole leak on a boiler that has been newly installed?
what is going on?
why dont you want to use the warrenty?

several scenarios spring to mind

all appear that this install is less than legit?

I am also wondering about the warranty aspect!

Stainless can be welded under inert gasses. Slightly specialist though.

Any normal person in the heating field would be getting the manufactyurer's spare part supplied and fitted under the warranty.

It is possible to soft solder, silver solder, braze or weld some grades of stainless steel, if it can be cleaned up well enough, if the repair method is appropriate for the item without compromising it's structure, and if you are using an appropriate flux and alloy.

Whether it is economical to do so is another matter.

Yes its a legal install, Im registered;

A warrenty claim has been made; but I wanted a 'quick fix' solution to a pin hole leak; the customer had been without heating since before Christmas; I am sure he would not of been over impressed if I had to tell them that they would have to wait another week, for a replacement part.

I have however repaired the leak; and await the replacement heat exchanger.......
