My daughter has gas central heating in her flat - she wants to replace the radiator in her bathroom with a chrome ladder type rad and also fit an electric element so that in the summer she can heat the towel rail via the electric element when the central heating is off . Is this posible and what sort of fitments do I need to get to accommodate both the electric element and the existing central heating pipework - thanks in advance

Before you rip out the rad, make sure the towel warmer is capable of heating the bathroom. They tend to be great at warming towels, less good at heating rooms.

Do the maths.

There will be no problem with that, as we only need to heat and dry the towels in the summer - we do not heat the bathroom during the summer months !!!

Do you not heat the bathroom in the winter?

If you have ripped out the rad, and replaced it with a towel warmer/rad, you need to make sure it's up to it, ie. the correct size. There are lots of size and output variations.

You need the calculations to match the new rad's output with the size, construction and other conditions relating to your bathroom. Otherwise you can make an expensive mistake.
