heating comes on with hot water

hi,
i have a potterton flamingo 40 boiler,with a randall 4033 switch, my problems is that none of the timings are now working so to have hot water the heating comes on as well. the valve i have is a danfoss 2port HPA2 would this cause the problem?? i moved the arm to manual very slight resistance but it wont go back now!!!
any ideas will be greatly received

there should be 2 * 2-ports, the heating one is probably letting by - new valve reqd.

Mick, thanks for the quick reply just to confirm what i think you meant?
are you saying that there is probably two valves??
one is next to my tank ..........the other would be ??? (not so obvious)

Some older systems only had a 2 port for heating and just let the water pump through the HW circuit whenever the boiler was on.

some even had manual valves to close of the heating circuit !
