Hi everbody

I have got to remove sludge from my heating system, but i don't know water the system holds.Has any got any idea how to work out how much water a system holds. many thanks

what system is it how many rads ? size of boiler ? just a combi or big f/stander combis have a 10 lire expansion vessel ,thats for a maxium of 100 litres in the system but it will have about 30 litres in

:?:

It is not important how much water is in your system, but how much muck has to come out. And if it is loose, or set into a hard crust

Why would you want to know the volume of your heating system just to flush it :? ?

I measured mine

20 galls about 100 litres incl old iron boiler and 10 rads (half are doubles) and F&E

==> one litre is 1% which is OK

drain it and give it a plain water flush first if you can to remove loose rubbish, then the X400 can go to work loosening the hardened stuff for a couple of weeks. bale out the F&E first and sponge out loose sediment into a bucket to prevent it being washed down into the system.

I am not a plumber
