Heating not working / pump bolier problem

Been having problems with my heating for a few days, it started with the heating pump making a noise, then last night all the downstairs rads stopped working but upstairs were ok, the pump stopped making any noise at all but the boiler was still firing up.

This morning the boiler isn’t firing up at all, it is a baxi solo 3 40 pf. The light says it on but that’s it.

I have a plumber coming this morning but would love a rough idea of the possible problem just so I can assess what he tells me.

The pump may be kaput and your boilers tripped on the overheat stat.

Thanks - just checked and the bolier has overheated. I have reset the bolider and will await the plumber. I thought all along that it may be a pump problem as the upstairs rads were working. hopfeully it will be a case of a new pump and all will be well (fingers crossed!)
