I live in an apartment with 7 radiators, about 5 of the 7 were heating ok but one would heat and another would go cold and so on, very frustrating

A friend suggested trying to balance the system, so I adjusted each radiator to the same point, I turned off the system and restarted it again, now none of the radiators are heating. The boiler is showing that it is working but no heat at all and one of the coldest nights of the year, help

Faulty Balancing!! to Balance a system you need to fully open ALL radiator valves (Flow & Return) you rhen need to run the system and make a note of all radiator flow & returen temperatures using an electronic thermometer make a note of all readings the radiator with the largest Temperature differential becomes the "Datum Radiator" turn down the return valve of the next worst radiator untill you get the same differential temperature as the datum, recheck the datum record the revised reading, then got the the 3rd worst radiator set the return valve to equal the datum, remeasure datum, go to 4th worst.......repeat this procedure untill you have adjusted every radiator on the system, the reading of the datum should now bew significantly improved and all radaiators should have the same differential temperature and be in perfect balance..... Bl***y long job to do properly though, allow up to a day to do properly!!

Hey

Thanks for you reply, another question, how do you know if you are opening the flow, do I have to turn clockwise or counter clockwise, it has been driving me mad all day.

I did try this today I started by turning all in one direction but no heating came on, so I turned all of the valves in the other direction but still no heating so I have been adjusting them all slightly in one direction but still no heat whatsoever
