I had a leak in system last year, repaired OK. However, since then, on tying-up the float valve, I notice it does drop slightly, measured about 50mm over 18 weeks. Is this to be expected? Any advice appreciated, thank you.

Call back the plumber and ask him to check his work..............sounds dodgy to me. 
HERTSDRAINAGE2010, thankyou for reply. I have little experience of heating systems, but can I presume that if there are no detectable leaks, the water use should be almost nothing? I don't have any reason, but I would have thought that some water gets used, undetectable leaks, evaporation, etc. Before repairing leak last year, the header tank was emptying in a day!
Er... forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but can water not evaporate from a header tank?
