I have a combi boiler and last night my radiator in my bedroom was making a really awful noise. This morning when we woke up we noticed that the radiator in the bathroom was not working - which runs off the hot water and when my husband went down to the boiler it was not firing up.

In the absence of any specific information like boiler make/model, number of rads, controls fitted, age of system, it is normally difficult to diagnose. As a punt in the dark try looking at your system pressure gauge, it should show between 1 and 1.5bar in a tytical 2 storey house with the boiler on the ground floor. If it is low use the filling loop (system dependant so no specifics here) to top up to the above.

If you have to top-up regularly you need to find out why and cure it or you'll be storing up problems for the future.
