Hi All, I have a question and bit of a problem with my central heating system. Last night I turned the radiators off in the rooms that didn’t need them on so that the radiators in the rooms we did need them got really nice and hot.
Anyways all was fine we had radiators on in the bathroom, bed room and dinning room.

This morning I woke up and went to turn the radiator down in the bedroom (it’s got a switch 1-6 not a old style temperature control) and noticed that the laminate floor was wet and also rug very wet where it has obviously leaked and the rug has soaked it up. I believe some needles leak on these valves but the radiator in the bedroom was still very hot.

I went downstairs to find the dinning room radiator wasn’t hot at all and even the inlet pipe was cold.

I have checked the boiler and it is running at 1.5 bar so that seems ok even though the system has lost some water in our bedroom and is now no longer leaking.

Anyone got any ideas of what’s happened one of the radiators I turned off we have never really turned off before could that have cause a blockage somewhere?

Cheers
Dayle.

i take it you mean you turned the thermostatic valves off? Yes you could have indeed caused the flow to dump a load of muck and blocked a rad, however if the offending rad has a TRV try taking the head off and freeing the pin - they can sometimes get stuck..

The system may also depending on what valves you've turned off (lockshields) may be out of balance...
Its hard to guess without seeing the system but stuck TRV's can be quite common.

Hope this helps
