Hi all, I am about to repair the internal walls of an upstairs bedroom which has had the plaster blown off by damp. The walls are double brick single skin non cavity with black mortar.

I have hacked off all the damaged areas and am ready to do the repairs. The following is my thinking of the stages of the repair, but maybe all are not necessary some advice and pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. I beleive we've sorted the sourc of the damp but am obviously concerned that it may reoccur in future and damage my new walls!!

1: make a 1 part waterproof unibond/1 part water 2 parts cement slurry and paint in 2 coats on the exposed brickwork.

2: render using sand/cement mix with febproof, can you advise the best ratios for internal rendering. Is it ok to do it in one coat will be about an inch thick or is it best to do multiple coats?

3: paint the 2 external walls with black jack bitumen paint (can I paint this over the emulsion that is already on the walls?)

4: either dryline with insulated plasterboard (dot and dab) or timber frame with polystyrene sheet and normal plasterboard over the top. I have read about vapour control. What would be the best method? I have thought about using gyproc drywall sealer? would this do the job? any other suggestions?

Anyhows I'm no expert but think with good advice from you lot I may be able to have a good crack at it.
