help,boiler not working

help,my boilers stopped worknig,i keep turning the knob loads of times and all it does is make a clerlunk. i had trouble like this before but the council used to come & fix it,the rent was high enough for heavensake,now ive got a place of my own(my old mums place)and i'm not paying some b*****d £2 hundred quid to come & **** in my tank like the ones on telly. i dont know what modal of boiler it is,its Poterton about waste high,can somone advice me about how to get it going as its not summer yet & the wife is complaning its cold but then shes always complaning. its not like we havent got an imersion & fan heater but I don't like useing them to much as theyre expensive electic.

anyway i dont want to get ripped of by some greedy b*****d so could you tell me how to mend it. ive done plumming before eg a tapwasher & stopped it driping ok. also the washing machin has packed up & shes wining about that too,familiar story lads!!!!!,does anyone know whats wrong & how to mend them,its a hotpoint. also while i'm on she says the food mixer makes a grinding noise but I dont think its to bad,do you know how loud they should be.

one more thing since you all seem to know what your takling about here,,the toilet pongs somtimes,it might be coming from outside,how can i tell its the drains or the toilet needs a new one. some putty might do,i dont not want to spend alot of money on it because you dont spend alot of time in there not when its stinking anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,thanks if you are able to advice me & get her of my back.

You seem to have a number of problems, number one is your attitude. (I've got one too, so I know). You think everyone is out to rip you off. You're wrong. Some people might be, most won't.

You can fix a tap washer, but that's not much use when trying to fix a boiler. You won't get anyone telling you how to fix your boiler if you don't even say what type it is, or even what fuel it uses!!! READ THE ANNOUNCEMENT POSTS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TOPIC LIST.

its too late,she walked out on me yesterday. i know i have an atitude problem like the oil man said so now i supose ill have to live with my own pong but ill have to get the boiler fixed so i supose i,ll have to get somone in
