Help - bricks wrecked by plaster removal - is this normal?

I am having damproofing works done and the plaster removal has left some brickwork badly damaged.

Is this normal?

Should I be worried re structural integrity of the walls?

Is your work being done by a contractor, and what do they say about it?

Looks like he was a bit clumsy with the kango in places, but I doubt that there's any structural problems.

the contractors story is that the plaster was 'stuck to the brick' and pulled the brick away as it was removed. We will be asking the 'main man' over tomorrow morning for a full explanation.

Besides the destruction of lovely 100yr old bricks, I think I need to ask re structural integrity of the wall, with up to 2cm of brick missing

looks to me like hes dug in to far with the kangoo, its best to hold the kangoo at a sideways angle so you are skimming across the face of the brickwork for minimum damage, in your pics you can clearly see where the chisel went in not a very good job, but as said above I doubt if you have any structural worries once its rerendered you will forget all about it but all the same not a nice job

To be quite honest, I reckon that plaster could have been removed just as well with a hammer and bolster,, would take a little longer that's all, but there wouldn't have been such damage to the bricks. As Steve said, once it's scratched and rendered, that'll sort it out.
