I have a new build garage constructed from 2 layers of concrete blocks ( insulation between )
It has been rendered on top of blocks down to 125mm above DPC

can I paint bitumenous paint over dpc ?
(below level where render ends, over the DPC and to the ground)

my builders have asked me to do this before they come to lay the slabs on tues !!!

will this cause me any problems in terms of "breathability", DPC bridging ?

any advice would be much appreciated :)
I don't want to start till I know it's ok ?
( need to do something to hide the ugly concrete blocks ?)

Paint away ;) DPC`s used to be bitumen/asbestos anyways. Called Astos among other trade names.. Probably still available without the asbestos, and another inert fibre instead.

Rendering over the DPC, or allowing the soil levels etc to cover it, is the only way you will get bridging problems,,, painting over it with bitumin paint as Nige says, will not cause a problem.

Roughcaster.
