Hi all,

Please can someone help, I dismantled something and during a tidy up at some point they went missing. The manufacturer has kindly told me what screws I need but I'm having trouble finding them from the details given:

Screw PH T2 M2.6*8L (Head Size=4.3mm, Black)

It's a US based company so possibly could be something different here (hoping I can get them).

I remember roughly they were black, blunt end, non tapering about an 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long.

Could the manufacturer not supply you with any? It might also help to know what the product is.

Screw PH T2 M2.6*8L (Head Size=4.3mm, Black)
PH = Pan head, commonly available
T2 = Torx recess size 2, rather small for a fastener of this size
M2.6 = Thread size 2.6mm metric - an unusual size that will prove difficult to find.
8L = Length 8mm, nothing unusual there.

1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long.
That's not 8mm or anywhere near. Are you sure they have provided the correct information? The specification provided is for very small screws.

Hi CBW, thanks for the reply. It's for an Awair Air Monitor 2nd edition. I had it repaired once before when a sensor stopped functioning correctly and had to send it away to Los Angeles which caused a nightmare with import duty charges and also it's a good few years out of warranty now so have taken to sourcing and replacing the dust sensor in it myself which I found to be quite an easy job now that I have hopefully sourced one. As it's an older model I don't think they have the parts available and would be quite expensive to obtain from them.

Thanks flameport, I would say that would probably be the right length. I was probably confusing them with something else but when I think about it the holes they go into in the back panel are quite deep (the screws are deep into the holes then go into the front part of the device. As it's plastic I wanted to be careful to use the right ones to avoid risk of cracking etc.

They sell M2.6 8L screws here

No idea if they are the ones that you are locking for though. BTW they are Philips.
Thanks opps, really appreciate you looking those up for me. I did think it would be something more specialised, similar to ones used in laptops and other similar devices. Makes sense they would be on a model website.
That does look like a match, £3 for 10 with delivery seems quite good as they're quite unusual as mentioned.

You should not have been liable to full import duties if the LA firm simply repaired a component. You had already paid UK import duties and VAT on the initial purchase.
