Cannot remove screws from recliner - how to do it?

First of all I want to say that I don't have any experience with DIY so perhaps the solution will be obvious to someone. I am removing the screws from the recliner so that I can remove one arm in order to carry the recliner up the stairs.

I made a picture of the screws that I want to remove from the recliner so that someone could tell me what tool would be the best to remove them:

There are 8 screws in total that have to be removed (on this picture 4 are visible) and I managed to remove only 2 of them with my screwdriver after trying for an hour.

Am I missing some tools for the job? I tried using the pliers and the screwdrivers, but I can't remove the remaining 6 screws. I also tried applying some WD-40 as I read about it on the Internet, but it didn't help.

I would appreciate any tips from someone with more experienced than me. Thank you!

You appear to have wrong size/type screwdriver, unclear from pics but I think you need a No3 posidrive screwdriver, I'm guessing those you tried just slipped round in the screw heads?

Yes you are right, my screwdrivers slipped around a lot.

What I will do is go tomorrow to a store with one of the screws that I managed to get out and check which screwdriver would be the best match.

number 3 pozi screws and you have probably chewed them with your number 2 philips screwdrivers.

No, clearly posidrive , only the size is in question.

Or a drill bit the size of the screws, and drill 'em out !

Your eyes must be better than mine, I could not tell what the hell they were from that pic.

Have you checked if the back is removable,usualy a flap held by velcro on the rear reveals two spindals facing upward with a clip ping the clip and move the back upwards .

If no joy in the future then you can buy Screw Extractor set quite cheaply
