Hello, I hope someone can help, I recently bought and moved into a house built in 1970 in the south east. We are aware there may be asbestos in the artex ceiling from our survey but after doing lots of decorating and sanding I am now worried that it could be in the walls too. Attached is an image of what the walls are made up of, a thin grey covering and then mortar? If the top coating is plaster why is it grey? I am not clued up at all when it comes to building materials.... I have sent some samples off for testing but have had a couple of sleepless nights over this so would appreciate and reassurances if there are any. Thank you

Lots of plaster is grey not just pink.(y)
Looks like plaster skim over weak cement render to me.:)

No real reason to put asbestos in normal wall plaster, perhaps a very slight chance of it in a compartment for a heating appliance, but everyone that I have ever seen used sheet asbestos screwed or nailed in position, that is not sheet asbestos.
The only asbestos plaster I have ever heard of in a domestic UK property is as you say Artex which will have a deliberate texture to it.
Looks just a normal wall to me.

great, thank you for your responses (y)

Asbestos or not you should always wear a good quality mask when sanding anything (if you can get hold of one!) And vacuum up with a hep bag in if possible.
