Hi there,

Forgive me, i'm new and not an expert in DIY.

I have a loft that I wish to insulate following problems last winter with condensation up there. The loft is fully boarded at present and with barely 100mm of insulation up there. Its also been there a good 25 years or more.

My plan is this: -

1. Remove off boarding and insulate within joists and then cross over the joists as recommended these days to bring depth of insulation to 270mm

2. To raise flooring to ensure new insulation isn't squashed down and also to allow air ventilation between insulation and new flooring.

3. Fit new boarding to main part of loft space.

Questions though.....
1. How can I raise the flooring above the joist without blocking the ventilation?

2. What boards should be used so that it won't crack and me end up taking the quick route from the loft to the bedroom?

3. How should I lay the boarding?

Your help is appreciated.

Many thanks Jim :P :D
