OP,

your problem is easily solved by a trip to B&Q etc, and ask for a basin waste seal kit.

Job done!

I use a basin mate, from toolstation. nice bit of kit.

I have now siliconed above the nut and washer ....

.... PTFE tape on the flange of trap to waste join + the rubber washer in there ..

This did cure it .... phew!!!!!!!!

These chrome wates are quite flimsy and quite often cause a problem. There never seems to be enough thread to create a good seal.

Thumbs up for basin mates from me as well. Now always fit these as a matter of course. No silicon required or other messy stuff

Likewise. Despite doing many DIY things before, I'd never fitted a sink until recently. I just could not believe that basin waste was still so arcane. 3 attempts to fix it drive me apoplectic, until I discovered basin mate. Why the hell is this just not standard in every waste kit?

Why spent extra monies on basin mate for each job when a tub of plumber mait is enough for 25 job. Make a little profit.
