thank you for your kind offer dextrous, I had already set off to B&Q and picked up the parts. Not surprisingly the plumbing isle was completely packed out. managed to get all what I needed.
Heading home later this evening and will crack on with the new pipework then.
Got those inserts for the pipe too.
Would be interesting to know what it might have cost for me to pay a plumber to stop this leak, i.e. come out and fit an isolation valve in the garage?
