Whoops!!!!!

I could be there in about 5 hours, but it won't be cheap!!!

Try a few more fellas you never know

Look get yourself some table lamps and use them tonight.

Then in the morning keep trying to get a sparky to come out, explain what the problem is, it sounds like you have got the connections in the light fittings/ roses all mixed up.

Swapping a switch is relatively easy, but, you do need to know what goes where for the light fittings.

I would be very suprised if your RCD needs replacing (I wouldn't have lights on it anyway).

Best of luck

i cant work out why 5 lights dont come on and one does? any ideas

To be honest I would have to be able to see them.

What type of light fittings have you put up?

I assume you have taken down the ceil roses and probably have found 3 cables

1 is a loop in 1 is a loop out and the other is the switch cable

take some pictures and post, we might be able to help then.

the reason the passage light comes on is becasue this will more then likely be the first in the ciruit, from there you have made a mistake somewhere (possibly).
If you are unsure, you will be best ringing a few more electricians and hopefully one will be able to make it.
or you could read all the wiki information and try and figure it out?

but, not needing to say, electric aint that friendly to people who want to play with it

the light i tried to fix i took off and the cables hanging out does that mean it breaks the circuit thats why?

if by that you mean that you have now got three cables hanging in mid air out of a previous light pendant fitting then yes, you probably have killed the circuit.
just make sure you turn off the power again to the light circuit before putting the pendant back up

I will never cease to wonder why it is that some people think they can work on their electrics when they must realise that they know absolutely nothing about it......
