Hello,

Help much appreciated!

Before my builder installed my stone resin shower tray, I saw that a chunk of stone had chipped off from the corner underneath - . I didn't get a chance to speak to him before he put it in so it is now installed. Should I be worried? Have pic but having trouble uploading it.

Also, he told me that when putting in the bath mixer, he splayed the copper pipes (by brute force) so that they would go around the overflow. They are mounted in the centre of the bath so will be tricky to fix if they do leak. How likely is this to cause problems?

Thanks very much

Mr Green may prefer to have a builder doing a questionable job for him.

Perhaps it creates a more interesting job for hem?

Most others might prefer to employ a plumber who specialises in, er.... , plumbing!

My builder is doing it as part of a refurbishment and i wasn't aware he would be doing the plumbing work himself - had assumed he would employ a plumber.

well sounds like he's saving money at your expense. We can't see the work, so can't comment, but obviously your not happy with it.

Anyone can call themselves a plumber - I have since 1974  but I did get a C+G certificate

To the op.

If it's a smallish piece missing from underneath, and not cracked, shouldn't cause any problems. Stone resin is quite tough. A pic would help.

By 'splayed pipe' do you mean he has bent it? That's the beauty of copper, it's bendable. If he did it properly, it should have smooth bends. If it's kinked on the bends, that's ten gallon hat territory. Par for the course with 'builder's plumbing'. Once again, a pic would enlighten all concerned.
