Hi

I am painting my front room straight onto new plaster, but my chimney breast is a bit cracked. I was thinking of putting lining paper up & painting over it, but was worried u would be able to see the joins in the paper. I am gonna be using a cream coloured paint.
Any thoughts or advice on this subject gratefully received :)

you shouldn't see them except on really close inspection, provided your paper hanging is good and you butt the pieces together.

You can also give the joints a touch of Fine Surface Filler and rub down carefully with a very fine sandpaper.
