Hi - I'm losing sleep over this but there is no damp proof course under both my uPVC patio doors. The uPVC door cill is 1.5 brick up from ground level below the dpc around rest of the house (which is 2 bricks up). I can see the DPC has been cut where the wall stops and pvc door frame starts.
Is the damp proof supposed to run the entire length under the pvc door?
If so, what do I need to do? Is it a big problem?

Also inside the building they put celotex in the cavity between brick and grey blocks, then cement over. The dpc above the grey blocks have been cut out as well. Is that ok? The ground is screeded as can see in photo

THANKS very much for some much needed help!!

As it is a plastic door then not placing a new DPC under the door frame won't make any real difference. If it was a wooden frame it would need one.

The cracks appear to be where the door has been used before the mortar properly went off. If the bricks are still sound then it is not a problem but if any are now loose they should be re-bedded.

When they closed off the cavity to screed up to the door frame they fitted the celotex correctly but there should be some DPC or DPM over the inner skin which is normally lapped slightly under the door frame. There are other ways to do it.

Your last photo shows three strips. The bottom strip looks like your floor slab, with the DPM visible along the joint. Is the middle strip the top of the old blocks that have been cut down by half a brick to match outside? If so then there should be some continuation of the DPM right up to the door frame which in a newly cut opening would normally be done by removing another brick depth from the internal skin, closing the cavity off, DPM over the top of the lot and then screeded back up to the existing floor level. Is this a new opening or just a new door?

Either way you could chemically damp proof the top of the inner skin and the screed infil before covering the floor, which is unlikely to give you any future problems.

MANY MANY thanks for your reply. Relief to hear it's ok without DPC under uPVC door frame.

It is both a new brickwork opening (new build). The door they bought was too tall for the brick opening hence they knocked out half a brick depth from the bottom brick layer and doing so they also removed the DPC.

The last photo with the 3 strips....you're spot on. The bottom strip is the main screeded floor. There WAS a DPC over the entire length of the middle strip (which is top of block) but the builder for some reason cut it off.
And the top strip next to the pvc door is the cavity that they cemented over.

Please can you explain chemically damp proofing?
Or can I buy a roll of DPM and place it on top of the top and middle strips (i.e. the screed infil and the inner skin) and then let the floorer put woodfloor underlay over the DPM directly?

Thanks so so much again for the advice
