HELP PLEASE

hi i have a mondeo tdci on a 53 reg

when i put my foot down the glow plug light flashes and goings into limp no power.

i have been told i could be the fuel pump not the injectors.

i have also been told sometimes this problem is confused with a injector problem.

im so confused and dont want to throw money at the wrong thing
