Help.................... Please!

I have a Veritas R8 alarm system in my home, it was already installed when we moved in about 7 years ago and i have had no problems with the system until recently.....

The alarm keeps going off (and uusually during the night !!) and its not even set !!! This 1st happeded a few weeks ago, the alarm was going off both internal and external, i powered the system down to reset it. I then powered it back up and it has been fine, until last night. Last night the sounder in the house started going off after inputting my code a few times i managed to stop the sounder (lights 1, 3 & 7 were lit !!). I reset it and returned to bed, about 2 mins llater it started again, this time i couldn't stop it by entering my code - i removed the fuse to let the batteries drain, the alarm stopped going off after a while - at this point when the internal alarm was going off the external box was just flashing -no sound, this morning the alarm started going off again and wouldn't go off when i put in the code !!

At this moment in time the fuse is pulled, line 1 is lit but pressing any buttons doesn't register !!!

Any ideas what the fault may be ??

has it ever had a new battery ? 90% of all alarm problems stem from this...

Not too sure to be honest, i have never replaced any..... do you mean the on in the control unit or the one one in the bell box ??

New 7Ah battery required at least every 5yrs, so you are well overdue.
