Help re Cooker Hood

Actually, having just measured 75cm it’s not a great height!!

Does mounting at a greater height improve its extraction ability?
Probably, as I said in the previous post. I have always suspected that a wall or ceiling mounted normal extractor fan with the correct extraction rate would work just as well as a cooker hood but look a bit unsightly.

No, but it reduces facial bruising.

I like the hood to be wider than the hob.

You can also get a canopy extractor that is fitted into a high level bridge unit to match your wall units. Some are very good. The extractor duct hole in the wall has to be quite high to go above.

I find this brand good.

Another consideration that might affect the positioning of the hob is the type of splash back you choose. Ours is a ready made stainless steel one that rests at the back of the hob with the cooker hood covering the top fixings. It is 750mm high so that is the distance from the hob to the extractor and has never been a problem.
