Hi All..

Went up in the loft today fitting some lights so the wife isn't too scared up there and noticed that the ridge joist where two roofs intersect is failing.. Pictures attached.. What can be done about this?? Is it an insurance call?? Structural engineer?? Not really sure how to proceed..

Thanks in advance for your comments / suggestions..

Darren

Why is your wife kept in the loft?

Anyway, you have not taken a picture of the intersecting roof, and it looks like either a poor job to start with or that rafters have been cut out where the intersecting roof is as part of an extension

Either way, there is no support to that intersecting ridge and hips and its no wonder that the joint is failing

Post an image of the intersecting roof ... and let your wife down from the loft
