Hi,

I have erected a stud wall and now I would like to tape and fill the plasterboards edges. The final finish will be wallpaper, no painting.

An I right to do the following:

a) fill gaps
b) apply tape
c) apply jointing compound over tape twice.

Or do I:

a) apply tape
b) apply j compound twice.

Many thanks

Your first option is nearer the mark but still nowhere near a proper job. Shame you’re not plaster skimming before papering, it’s the only way to go for longevity.

Don't forget to seal the raw plasterboard before you wallpaper to save the next poor sucker a load of heartache when it comes to stripping/re-decorating, you never know it could even be you! ;)

If you are using tape then you apply compound then tape then apply compound.

If you are using scrim then you apply scrim then apply compound.
