Hello
We've just moved into a house where the combi boiler was relocated from a cupboard in the 3rd floor attic to the ground floor utility room. I've found some paperwork to suggest this was done in 2018.
There is still an open ended white vertical pipe in the cupboard which gives off a strong musty odour, and seems to contain some moisture. It looks to my untrained eye like some sort of trap or stand pipe, wider than condensate type pipes I've seen before.
It seems odd there is smell and moisture after several years, unless the pipe still serves a purpose. It also seems odd to have an active pipe opening into a bedroom cupboard 3 floors above the boiler.
Can someone help identify this pipe? Should it have been routed outside? Can I perhaps in the short term cap the end without causing problems?
Thanks in advance
