Hi,

anybody able to advise on the correct wiring for this:-

I am adding a new light switch to a room to give me 2 way lighting. I have already run a 3 core and earth cable between the new switch and the existing (red, blue, yellow & earth).

I was about to replace the existing one way switch but when I opened it I was expecting to see just the red and black connected in the usual way, but this light switch has 3 cables going into it and looks a bit different.

Here are a couple of pics.

Thanks

tape together the wires that currently go into the same terminal with some red tape to keep them together.

put that pair of wires in L1, the existing single red wire in L2 and connect the corresponding terminals in the two switches together as normal.

connect the earth from the run between the switches to the other earths, leave the existing black wires alone.

That's "loop at switch". The terminal with the two red cores in the live feed - one from the supply, one feeding to the next switch for another light elsewhere.

The single red is the switched live to the lamp.

Link the two two-way switches L1-L1, L2-L2, Com-Com using the 3-core+E.

Connect the live feed (both cores) to L1. Connect the switched live to L2.

Sleeve all cores brown - they are all live.

Bah, too slow! :(
