help with a sycamore

Hello All,

I've had a sycamore growing from nowt to 15ft at the top of my garden for the last 4 years.

I'd like it to grow stout enough to support a hammock (or even a kiddy treehouse) without becoming a monster.

I know that left to it's own devices, it'll do it's thing and become more than strong enough, but I seem to remember judicious pruning of bonsai trees can alter their proportions. Can the same be done with sycamores and the like?

Ideally, I'd like it to grow much stouter, but without growing loads bigger. Is this achievable? If so, how?

Just keep chopping it at the size you want it to be. The trunk will keep growing thicker. Sycamores are fast growing, huge trees. Oak grows big too, but takes much longer to do it. Nothing much lives on sycamore, except the sycamore moth.
