hi
i live in a new build house with the usual lighting circuit plus what i call a "lamp circuit" which takes the small 3 pin plugs and allows lamps in a room to be switched on/off by a switch on entry to the room. All has been well for the 7 years we have lived here.

After a weekend away with the house in the care of my 17 year old, i find all the lights on this circuit (in all 3 rooms in the house) are not working. No trip switches have been tripped.

Any advice for someone not afraid of a bit of DIY but not that technical?\

oh and also the newly installed LED downlights in the kitchen were flashing or not working too?

thanks

Part of your name may well be the answer.

Teenagers are w4nkers (I own two), beer spills, sick- I'd suggest you check each one and see if the little angels (hell type) have managed to spill something and then decide a half pint of lemon jiffy will clean it.

Spill something on what? the plugs are 2 foot up the wall or do you mean the lights?

sorry to be a bit dim.

I tried unplugging all the lights and then reinstating one at a time and they all work now.

The uplighters in the kitchen are still flashing/not working but it seems unlikely the two are connected? would they be on the same circuit?

Also why did the 5v lamp circuit not trip the trip switch?

Presumably this special lighting circuit has its own wall switch - are you aware of this switch; do you use it to swich all the lamps together.

And - was it off?
