How easy to swap one for the other looking at the relevant wiring diagrams?

In which room is the Danfoss located? If it's upstairs or in the kitchen, that is not a suitable location for a thermostat.
The Danfoss is wired into the boiler in the kitchen.
Why couldn't the new unit go there? I understood that there are 2 parts to that Horstmann unit - the wireless thermostat and the receiver?
So the thermostat sends messages to the receiver and the receiver then sends messages to the boiler?
As long as the wireless thermostat is located away from the kitchen, the receiver unit should be fine in the kitchen shouldn't it?
I thought the receiver was basically the same functions as the Danfoss, albeit more control from the thermostat than just on/off?

I hadn't cottoned on to the fact that you were thinking of a wireless stat. 
So, yes you can install the receiver in the kitchen, where the Danfoss is, though make sure you follow the installation instructions about location relative to the boiler. It would be a good idea to check that the signal is OK before fixing the receiver to the wall.

Would you be able to have a quick look at the wiring diagrams I posted and see if it's likely to be an easy switch over?
I'm also struggling to figure out where the thermostat would go?
Obviously the bathroom and the kitchen are a no-no, but that then leaves the choice of the living room or the dining room.
We don't have a hallway as such, the stairs run in between the 2 rooms and there is no radiator at the top or the bottom of the stairs so it never really heats up - would that mean having the thermostat there would also be a bad idea?

Is there a wire link between terminals 6 (L) and 3(Com) of the Danfoss?
No idea I'm afraid, I'm at work and the Danfoss is on the wall at home.
Then I'll wait for the answer as it affects the wiring.
