Please help me, i have a downstairs cloak room in my new build property.
The waste pipe from the pedestal sink goes down in to the floor and there is the most horrendous smell coming from this area as it is not sealed. there is a large gap round the pipe in the hole in thew floor.

how do iseal this? what do i seal it with ?

many thanks

There should not be a smell.
Is your waste pipe going into a trap?
Get your floorboards up and see exactly what is happening.
If possible you should re-route your waste pipework so that it exits outside to the hopper or stack. :D

Is re -routing an option.?
You could then seal up the hole.
Is there a trap fitted to your sink? :D

cannot re-route.

whats a trap? Cant i just seal it with some sort of sealant like mastic?

Kev's right.

If it is a new build it is not your responsibility.
Phone the builders NOW :)

measure the diameter of the pipe buried in the concrete and the diameter of the waste pipe from the sink. There should be an adaptor to couple the two so a seal is formed.

Take the measurements to a local plumbers merchants. Or post them here with a picture if possible.
