ok i did what you said m8, and the light came on but the switch doesnt work

you could have damaged the switch when it caused a short circuit. swap the switch for 1 from a different room and se if that works. if it works, replace switch

thanks for your help mate, all has worked out well the lights on and the switch is working fine.
