Hi, I wonder if there is anyone out there who could pass on their advice to me. I have just fitted my kitchen and attached the waste pipe from my washing machine to the U bend from the sink waste. Well when the washing machine empties of all the water it sometimes goes up the U bend and into my sink. WOndering if there is anyone who cant tell me why this is happening and if thee is any fix. I was thinking that a U bend with a one way valve would fix it but am not sure if they are sold anywhere.

Thanks for reading and look forward to any answers,
Steveman

the answer (imho) is the u bend is lower than the height of the stand pipe for the w/m

i used to work for H*tp**nt and saw as you describe quite often.

the best thing to do is to run a separate pipe to waste for the m/c since a w/m has fluf / lint in its waste and this can block your u bend (seen that happen too)

m/c is short for machine, but all too often i spell it wrong

thanks very much for your reply breezer. there is no such thing as a one way valved u bend or any other solutions then as all my waste pip work is behind my kitchen units so it would be very difficult to run another waste pipe.

thanks again breezer
