Hello I have just got a new washing machine, all plumbed in and working fine.

BUT... When it pumps the water out some of it comes up the sink. And I just wondered why as the old machine did not do this.

The waste pipe is connected between the sink and the u bend.

Might that be the problem?

Any help would be great.

Normal practice to connect like that, might be new machine pumps out fater than previous version and the sink waste pipe cant handle it. Assuming your sink waste is correctly sized (40mm/1.5"), then it's pssoible its restricted slightly, either partially blocked or maybe the way the pipe runs. Sink wastes often gunge up, congealed fat/soap etc.

Thanks for the reply the pipes are all clean as I had to replace them all a few weeks ago and the pipes ar all 1.5

Could t be the way the pipes are set out?

its not normal plumbing practice to install as the OP describes..but it is kitchen fitters normal practice as it is quick and easy

Each washing machinw shoild have its own stand pipe

It is normal practice what the op describes, what you describe is best practice.

May be the layout of the pipework, elbows can provide more resistance to the flow of water than using swept bends.
