Help with problem please

Hi all first time user so go easy please.I have a problem with a back boiler heating system.The heating is not working it just stopped controls seem ok found the pump for the system under the floor plugged into a socket when i remove it from the socket and plug it into a different socket the heating works. any ideas please.
 
Thanks for that yes the water is ok. how would i find out which one is needing replaced or should i replace the two of them.
 
Mr multimeter is your friend here...

240V from timer into Room Stat.

240 volt from room stat goes to pump.

I assume you have gravity hot water, therefore the timer simply brings on the hot water.

What makes and models of timer and stats do ty9ou have?

Are there any valves in the airing cupboard?
 
That can only be found by electrical tests to follow the circuit until the faulty item is found.
